The World Hockey Association was a rebel entity that existed from 1972 until 1979.
Who was the last player to score a goal during a WHA game?
A hint? He was an Edmonton Oiler.
It was Dave Semenko who tallied during the third period of the league’s final contest – a playoff game against the Winnipeg Jets.
Gary Smith was the last goalie scored upon, but he was also the goalie who hoisted the Avco Cup.
The first WHA goal was also scored by an Oiler – an Alberta Oiler, Rob Anderson. It was on October 11,1972, at the Ottawa Civic Centre.
