It was simple, but ornate – our original Stanley Cup.
But, 116 years later you could hide Martin St. Louis in it. Or an attractive woman, who could jump out of Lord Stanley with cake in her mouth.
The Cup is being displayed in Mario Lemieux’s palace.
1893 was the year that Wilhelm Dorpfeld starting excavating Troy – before Brad Pitt visited it.
It was also the year that they discovered a 1st century building in Pompeii – named the House of the Silver Wedding. It was called this because it was King Humbert’s and his wife’s silver wedding anniversary.
Note the similarity between Mario Lemieux’s outbuilding, and the wedding house.
The name of the Italian King’s wife was Margherita of Savoy, and they named a wonderful drink after her.
